Palmer United Party nominates candidate in Lockyer
THE Palmer United Party has complicated an already busy local Queensland election ballot paper by nominating Craig Gunnis in the seat of Lockyer.
Mr Gunnis has had a long career in the prestige car industry as well as extensive small business experience and was a manager of the Palmer Motorama Vintage Car Museum at Palmer Coolum Resort.
He also stood for Palmer's party in the 2013 Federal election for the Brisbane seat of Ryan.
Mr Gunnis said the state Government should be focused on Queensland families, creating jobs and providing opportunities for local business and industries.
"This government isn't performing and the polls are proof that Queenslanders are increasingly angry with the way this government is treating them," Mr Gunnis said.
"The Palmer United Party is a real alternative to the two major parties and our support is growing week by week."
Mr Gunnis is the fifth candidate to declare for the seat held by the LNP's Ian Rickuss since 2004.
Mr Rickuss is renominating again and also on the ballot are Pauline Hanson (One Nation), Steve Leese (ALP) and David Neuendorf (Katter's Australian Party).
Nominations for candidates close at noon next Tuesday and the election will be held on Saturday, January 31.
