Opening with spinners a good choice for Sydney Sixers

SYDNEY  Sixers skipper Brad Haddin said he went with his gut when deciding to open with two spinners in the T20 Champions League final against the Highveld Lions.

His decision was certainly vindicated with Nathan McCullum breaking through with the fourth ball of the first over and ending with three wickets, while Steve O'Keefe claimed a victim in the second over.

With quick Josh Hazlewood also nabbing three wickets in his spell, the Lions were never in the contest.

At one point the home team was 4-9, and despite recovering to 121 off its 20 overs, that was not enough as the Sixers, thanks to Michael Lumb's 82 not out, cruised home by 10 wickets in just 13 overs.
