JAMES Ashby discussed giving special treatment to a One Nation state election candidate - including donating election material - at the same meeting where he suggested making others pay more, a secret recording reveals.

The revelation comes as Attorney-General Yvette D'Ath yesterday wrote to the Crime and Corruption Commission and the Electoral Commission Queensland to draw their attention to the recordings and ask them to take any action they saw fit.

Mr Ashby, chief-of-staff to One Nation leader Pauline Hanson, has repeatedly said his suggested plan to make money out of the election was never implemented, and dismissed the comments as a "poor choice of words".

He can be heard saying he would be willing to donate campaign materials to Hervey Bay candidate Damian Huxham to help him get elected. Mr Huxham was not present.

"There are people like Damian, I expect to win this. I expect him to go hard. And I will do everything I can to assist him as well because I want to see him elected. And I will donate, I will donate 100 banners to him, that's my personal feeling."
