One million 'mo's mean more for men's health
RESISTING the urge to pick up a razor has paid off for the one million moustache growers around the world currently taking part in the annual Movember challenge.
Halfway into the challenge organisers have revealed a record number of Australian "mo bros" and "mo sistas" have signed up to promote awareness of men's health issues.
The Sunshine State has set the benchmark with 27,610 registrations, which is 1500 up from last year.
Two Queensland teams are also currently at the top of the fundraising leader board:
Team Mov-ing Mackay Cricket Club is sitting on $24,757 and Sanjeev Bandi on $22,841.
Since its launch in 2003 Movember has transformed into a global movement with 21 countries taking part.
Australia is placed fourth on the international table in terms of registrations and third in fundraising.
Chief Australian mo bro Jason Hicks said 2012 was shaping up to be the best year yet.
"I continue to be inspired by the actions of our mo bros and mo sistas," Mr Hicks said
"We know we're making a difference with the conversation being generated and funds being raised but this simply wouldn't be possible without the support of the community."
