Nielsen poll shows boost in support for PM Julia Gillard

SUPPORT for Prime Minister Julia Gillard has jumped 10 percentage points in preferred PM ratings in the Nielsen poll released on Monday by Fairfax Media.

The poll showed a huge rise in support for Ms Gillard, following a speech about sexism and misogyny in the House of Representatives two weeks ago.

It gave Ms Gillard a 10-point lead over Opposition Leader Tony Abbott as preferred PM, putting her at a 50% approval rating with Mr Abbott trailing at 40%.

The poll placed Ms Gillard at her largest lead as preferred PM over Mr Abbott in any Nielsen poll conducted this year.
