Newman reveals his pay package

LIBERAL National Party leader Campbell Newman has revealed how much he gets paid to run for premier from outside of Parliament.

In an interview with National Nine News last night, the former Brisbane lord mayor said he charged the LNP $12,000 plus GST per month.

That means Mr Newman is paid the equivalent of $158,400 per annum, including GST.

"I then have to pay the GST, I have to pay superannuation myself and pay all my costs out of that," he said.

Mr Newman told Nine he regretted not revealing the pay arrangement sooner.

"I do feel sorry that Queenslanders might have felt I wasn't putting it all out there - I am," he said.
