Newcastle man allegedly strips, binds, gags and stabs niece

A NEWCASTLE man allegedly stripped his niece naked, bound and gagged her before stabbing her and dumping her body in a blowhole.

University student Mengmei (Michelle) Leng's body was found in the Snapper Point blowhole on Sunday, April 24.

NSW detectives have revealed further details of 25-year-old Ms Leng's death after laying 27 more charges yesterday against her uncle, Derek Barrett, 27.

The ABC reported that as well as murder, Mr Barrett had been charged with detaining for advantage, multiple counts of committing an act of indecency, and filming private parts without consent.
