Nanango woman wins nearly $1 million on lottery

A WOMAN from Nanango has almost $1 million more in the bank than last week after winning big in the lottery.

She was one of four division one winners nationally who each took home a prize of $985,744.11 in Saturday's Gold Lotto draw 3755 on July 15.

The woman said in a statement she had been eagerly waiting by the phone for Golden Casket to call and confirm her division one win ever since she checked her Saturday Gold Lotto entry yesterday.

"That is fantastic, that is fantastic, now it's confirmed I can believe it," she said.

"I was looking at my ticket, sitting here marking the numbers down.

"I had two on one line, then four and then boom, boom, I got the others. It just didn't seem real. My family were double checking the numbers. I said I won't believe it until I get that phone call."

The winner said she had grand plans to use her windfall to help her family, buy a new house, and travel.

"It couldn't have come at a better time," she said.

"It's wonderful. I won't have to worry about pinching pennies, cutting down on this and that. I won't have to do that any more."

The winner, who wished to remain anonymous, purchased her 18-game QuickPick entry from Nanango Newsagency.

Nanango Newsagency owner Alison Warren said the latest division one winning entry cemented the outlet's reputation as a winning newsagency.

"We've now sold about four division one winning entries during the past 15 years. Our biggest was a store syndicate that won $11 million in Powerball," she said.

"We kept saying it was time for another division one and that perhaps another win was on its way.

"It's such great news. Congratulations to our customer. I hope they enjoy their prize."

The winning numbers in Saturday's Gold Lotto draw 3755 were 25, 44, 41, 1, 11 and 22.

The supplementary numbers were 9 and 23.

Last financial year, there were 275 division one winning Gold Lotto entries across the Lotto's jurisdictions, which collectively won more than $283 million.

Division one winning tally has now reached 205 so far this calendar year, including 57 won by Golden Casket customers.
