NAMED: Five drug, drink drivers in Gatton court

EVERY week, drivers who have taken to the roads drunk front the Gatton Magistrates Court.

They often land fines and lose their licenses for anywhere from a month to two or more years.

Some drivers appear in court after they were breath tested by police while only slightly over the limit, while others are caught driving with blood alcohol concentrations up to six times the legal limit.

Here is a list of five offenders who pleaded guilty to drug or drink driving in court this week.

 

Cody James Tuira

Cody Tuira 20, was caught drink driving on the Warrego Highway in College View on April 13.

The court heard he was driving with a blood alcohol concentration if 0.179, when he was pulled over for a roadside breath test at 4.05am.

He pleaded guilty to a charge of driving under the influence.

He was fined $900 and was disqualified from driving for six months.

No conviction was recorded.

 

Don Gregory Fern

Don Fern, 63, was caught driving with alcohol in his system on Old Laidley Forest Hill Road at Laidley North.

Fern was pulled over for a roadside breath test on March 27 when he blew 0.69.

He pleaded guilty to driving while over the general alcohol limit and was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for a month.

No conviction was recorded.

Jakob Trevor Harm

Jakob Harm, 19, was caught driving with alcohol in his system while driving on Green Valley Drive, Rainbow Beach.

The court heard Harm had been pulled over by police at 11.47pm on March 6.

He blew just over the legal limit during a roadside breath test, clocking in a reading of 0.56.

He pleaded guilty to driving while over the general alcohol limit and was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for a month.

No conviction was recorded.

 

Fiona Sharon McKillop

Fiona McKillop 43, was caught driving with a drug in her system on Gatton Laidley Road, Gatton on December 31, 2019.

The court heard McKillop was pulled over at 8.05am for a random breath test and drug test.

She failed the drug test, showing traces of meth and marijuana in her system.

McKillop pleaded guilty to driving while a drug is present in her system.

She was fined $900 and disqualified from driving for six months.

A conviction was recorded.

Derick Ashley Robinson

Derick Robinson was caught driving with a drug in his system at 8.36am on February 25.

The court heard Robinson had been driving on a probationary driver's license when he was pulled over on Mulgowie Road, Laidley.

Robinson failed a drug test, the results showing he had both meth and marijuana in his system.

The court heard Robinson had a recent history of similar offences.

He pleaded guilty to driving with a drug present in his system.

He consented to nine months of probation and lost his license for six months.

A conviction was recorded.
