Name needed for new centre
WITH Council's $460,000 conversion of the old Kilcoy Shire Council chambers into the Somerset Region's biggest and newest library, the old Kilcoy library at 13 Kennedy Street has become available for community use.
To celebrate the occasion, Council is asking the community to submit a name for the old Kilcoy library building that will reflect its new place in Kilcoy community life.

Council moves to limit new development at Esk van park
Somerset Regional Council has approved an application for more prefabricated housing at Esk caravan park but will limit permitted new housing in the development from the 15 units applied for to 10 units.
Unlike new subdivision applicants, Council will not require the developer to contribute towards new recreation facilities in Somerset Region such as Esk's new $1.1 million Pipeliner Park as part of development approval conditions.
August 2011 Ekka show holiday
Somerset Council will apply to the State government for a public holiday to be gazetted for the Somerset Region for the first Monday during the Royal Queensland Show / Brisbane Exhibition as in previous years.
