Naked Magicians leave little to the imagination
DO YOU like your magic with a side of strip tease?
Plenty of Aussies do, apparently, with The Naked Magicians returning to Brisbane after sell-out shows in Sydney, the Adelaide Fringe and Brisbane Comedy festivals.
The duo, Brisbane's Christopher Wayne and Mike Tyler, will take over the Brisbane Powerhouse from June 19 to 29 for a special homecoming season.
Dubbed "the world's boldest and cheekiest magic show", The Naked Magicians is the brainchild of The Illusionists creator Simon Painter and was inspired by the premise: "what if Magic Mike actually had magic in it".
Wayne is a former comedy writer for the B105FM Breakfast Show while Tyler is a former corporate entertainer and comedy hypnotist.
After the Brisbane season they will tour parts of regional Queensland, with plans for a Las Vegas show later this year.
"We like to think of our show as the True Blood of magic shows - a great balance between impressive magic tricks, comedy and gratuitous nudity that absolutely knocks people's sock off," Wayne said.
Check out The Naked Magicians performing a "two cups" trick here, but be warned - like the show the clip is R-rated and contains nudity.
The Naked Magicians will play the Brisbane Powerhouse June 19-29, Maryborough's Brolga Theatre on July 11 and Bundaberg's Moncrieff Entertainment Centre on July 12.
