Mum gets violent because daughter doesn't want Maccas

A FATHER who got in the middle of a petty argument between his wife and child about McDonald's has become a victim of domestic violence.

The 43-year-old woman, who can't be named to protect the identity of her partner and children, has a five-year domestic violence order against her which was put into effect in July this year.

On September 30, she got into a fight with her daughter as she wanted to go to McDonald's for breakfast, but the girl didn't want to.

The father stepped in and told his wife their child didn't want to go, prompting her to slap him repeatedly, leaving a cut on his face.

Children living next door heard the fight and called police who found a broken pot plant and her injured husband at the scene.

She pleaded guilty in Maroochydore Magistrates Court today to contravening a domestic violence order.

Her lawyer told the court the pair were going through a divorce and she had a "lapse of mental judgment" at the time.

Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist fined the woman $450 with no conviction recorded.
