MP Scott Driscoll's wife faces court on 16 charges

THE wife of disgraced former Queensland MP Scott Driscoll cut a sorry figure as she faced court for the first time.

Emma Jane Driscoll faced the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday after being charged with 16 dishonesty and perjury offences.

Her husband was not in court to support her.

Mrs Driscoll's solicitor Nick Dore asked for the matter to be adjourned until January 20 for a committal call over.

The matter took less than two minutes during.

Mrs Driscoll was served with a notice to appear earlier this month after a joint Queensland Police Service and Crime and Misconduct Commission investigation.

Her husband, Scott Driscoll, sensationally quit politics last month following a parliamentary ethics committee recommendation he be fined and expelled for deliberately misleading State Parliament after he failed to declare his interests and those of his wife.

He would have become the first Queensland MP in history to have been expelled had not resigned.

Mr Driscoll faced his former colleagues on a dramatic final sitting day of State Parliament to answer 49 charges of contempt.

His former parliamentary colleagues imposed full sanctions against him and hit him with a $90,000 fine.

He is still the subject of ongoing Queensland Police Service and Crime and Misconduct Commission investigations.
