Mouth-watering games to start A-League season next year

A CLASH of the "bling" FCs will be the highlight of round one next season - the 10th in the A-League's history - when Melbourne City's superstar line-up heads to Sydney to face the Sky Blues.

But, that is not the only mouth-watering clash to look forward to on the first weekend after the draw was announced yesterday.

The season will kick off with a blockbuster clash between Melbourne Victory and Western Sydney

Wanderers at Etihad Stadium on Friday, October 10.

Central Coast will host neighbours Newcastle the next evening, followed by City's first game under its new name with superstars Damien Duff (pictured) and David Villa.

The round will wrap up on Sunday with champions Brisbane Roar hosting Adelaide and Perth taking on the Phoenix in Wellington.

The Roar will have to wait until round seven to renew acquaintances with former star striker Besart Berisha, who is now with Melbourne Victory.
