Motel with 'hotel feel' set to open in Margaret St

A NEW 55 unit motel is set to be built in Toowoomba.

The motel will be built in Margaret St in a heritage style, featuring 50 rooms with either king or twin beds, two two-bedroom suites with kitchen and a separate lounge and three disability rooms with an interconnecting door to a second room for carers or family.

The two-storey motel will be built by The Potter Group, which received awards for their work on the Potters Oceanside Motel in Mackay.

Oceanside Motel manager Peter Stronge and his wife Madeline will make the trip back to Peter's home town to manage the new Toowoomba motel.

"Strictly speaking it will be a motel, but it will have more of a hotel feel because it is internal entry rather than external," he said.

"The Oceanside Motel has certainly brought something different to Mackay and it will bring that same sort of feel to Toowoomba."

Mr Stronge said they planned to have the motel operating by the end of next year.
