Naked man, 32, roaming streets on drug-fuelled trip

A 32-YEAR-old Torquay man has been fined $500 for roaming the streets naked on a drug-fuelled trip in the early morning.

As part of his hallucinations, Jonathan Peter Hughes told police he could see people waiting for him across the road - when in fact there was no one there.

Hughes pleaded guilty in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on Thursday to a public nuisance offence for the November 1 incident.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Michael Quirk said police found the defendant naked, running around neighbours' yards, when they arrived at Moonlight Ave about 4.30am.

"Police witnessed the defendant's disorderly behaviour which was causing concern for other residents," Sgt Quirk said.

The father of five told police he was not sure what drugs he had used earlier that night but had taken what was offered by a friend.

Magistrate Graeme Tatnell convicted Hughes and fined him $500.
