SOPHIE Monk has claimed that Chantelle Barry stole more than just $100 from her and the other Bardot band members.
Barry broke her 17-year silence in Woman's Day earlier this week and confirmed a long-held rumour that she was booted from the Popstars girl group for theft.
But she told the magazine she only stole $100 from Monk.
"Sophie left her $100 weekly allowance in an envelope in my bedroom and I intended to return it on the weekend - we had plans to go to a gig together," Barry told Woman's Day.
"In a moment of stupidity, being a teenager and thinking that a pair of shoes was more important than the friendship I had with Sophie, I decided to keep her money for myself."
Sophie Monk was asked about the drama on KIIS FM's Kyle and Jackie O this morning and said that $100 was a lot of money to her back then.
"You need to remember we were on like, $25 a day so I'm living off that money," Monk told the radio hosts.
"I had no money to buy food or anything. So she [Chantelle Barry] collected my money for me and the way we found it, it was in the garbage bin - the Sophie envelope with the money missing."
Monk claimed she the other band members confronted Barry about the theft because they found out she'd taken other stuff from them.
"She had stolen hairdryers and Chanel stuff," Monk told Kyle and Jackie O.
"But the funniest thing is, I was the only one who wanted to keep her in the band. I really liked her and people go through things and I thought she was so talented. We all do stupid things."
Barry told Woman's Day she "felt terrible" about stealing from Monk and she was paid $1000 hush money by management to leave the band and keep quiet about the scandal.
She was quickly replaced by Tiffany Wood with management explaining at the time that Barry had left to pursue a solo career.
Months after leaving Bardot, Barry posed for a photospread in FHM magazine and went on to act in some small roles on Water Rats, How I Met Your Mother and 90210.
