A TOOWOOMBA to Sydney QantasLink flight was delayed for five hours yesterday morning after a minor mechanical issue grounded the plane.
A QantasLink spokeswoman said the lengthy delay came about because an engineer had to be flown up from Sydney.
"We gave customers the option of getting on a flight from Brisbane or waiting for the repairs to be completed," she said.
"The majority of customers preferred to get on the bus to Brisbane."
The customers were able to change over their tickets free of charge.
The spokeswoman said operations were now back to normal and that the plane was back in the air.
She said QantasLink apologised to the customers for any inconvenience.
Passenger James Carew said he missed a funeral in Sydney because of the delay, but praised QantasLink's response.
"We were offered connecting flights from Brisbane.
"This was done quickly and a range of options were spoken about.
"Free food was provided and many people boarded the bus to Brisbane.
"A few of us stayed on at the airport.
"It is better to be safe than sorry.
"I missed a funeral but will make the wake," he said.
