Elsie celebrates 100th birthday
FIVE generations of family were present to celebrate Elsie Sarah Langlands' 100th birthday in Laidley on the weekend.
With nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren, the Uniting Church Hall was full to the brim with family and well wishers from as far away as Sydney to mark such a special event.
Elsie was deservedly the centre of attention and received telegrams and cards from Queen Elizabeth II, Governor-General Quentin Bryce, PM Julia Gillard, Queensland Governor Penelope Wensley, Premier Anna Bligh and local MP's Ian Rickuss, Scott Buchholz and LNP Leader Jeff Seeney.
Born in Laidley Hospital in 1911, Elsie still maintains her independence and lives in her own family home with her daughter and still has her loving family living close.
