Bikie outlaw faces court after 24 years

A MARYBOROUGH bikie who was on the run for 24 years before being arrested on the weekend faced court ob Wednesday.

Steven Alan Simpson, 47, was arrested on Saturday afternoon during a police traffic operation on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

When officers pulled the Outlaw Motorcycle Club member over near the bike, car and hot rod show at Eumundi they found he was wanted on seven outstanding warrants for various offences.

Illegal substances were also allegedly found in the car, resulting in charges of possessing dangerous drugs and possessing utensils or pipes.

Having avoided arrest for more than two decades, Simpson was granted bail in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court.

The case was adjourned until later this month when it will be heard in his home town at the Maryborough Magistrates Court.
