Maroons set to announce squad for Origin I

THERE will be selection shocks one way or another as Maroons coach Kevin Walters names his Queensland team for the State of Origin series opener.

The Maroons team for Origin I will be named at 1pm Monday, with selectors confronted by a host of difficult decisions.

Injury concerns for star halfback Johnathan Thurston and veteran forward Nate Myles are additional headaches as Walters attempts to plot a third-straight series victory for Queensland.

There are a host of other questions for Walters and the Maroons selection panel.

Will star Storm fullback Billy Slater win a State of Origin recall? Can Test winger Valentine Holmes crack the Maroons backline? Which of Queensland's generation next forwards will make the cut?

The Maroons team will be named at 1pm today.
