Police search for gunman after man shot and abandoned

POLICE are searching for a gunman after a man was shot and abandoned on the outskirts of Ipswich.

A man, 28, called emergency services himself after he was shot in the foot in bushland north of Ipswich on Saturday afternoon.

Paramedics treated the victim at the scene for the bullet wound before taking him to hospital.

It is believed the man, who was travelling in a car, was assaulted by an unknown number of assailants.

The car stopped on a bridge on Kholo Rd and the man was taken out of the vehicle.

The altercation continued and the victim was shot in the foot.

He was left injured on the

roadside to call for help at 1.30pm.

After being taken to Ipswich Hospital with non-life threatening injuries to his foot, he remained in hospital yesterday in a stable condition.

Ipswich CIB Detective Sergeant Heath McQueen said police were continuing their investigations.
