Teacher sent student's details to sex offender

A FORMER St Edmunds College teacher will be sentenced next month after accessing a student database and sending information to a known child sex offender.

North Ipswich man Joshua Peter Bilyj, 19, had his matter mentioned on Monday in Ipswich Magistrates Court where it was listed for sentencing.

Bilyj was charged on November 2, 2015 with using a restricted computer without consent to cause detriment, damage or gain.

The offence took place on July 23, 2015.

Bilyj accessed the private information via a teacher's kiosk at St Edmunds College in Woodend.

He then sent personal details of the student - including a photo, name, address and date of birth - to a third party who has previously been convicted of child sex offences.

Bilyj will be sentenced on March 2 in the Ipswich Magistrates Court.
