Man pleads guilty to robbing a sex shop armed with a brick

A MAN has pleaded guilty to robbing a sex shop armed with a brick.

Jamie Robert Bruton appeared in the Mackay Magistrates Court today via video link.

He is charged with armed robbery and enter premises with intent at the Love Heart International on April 21.

Prosecutor Sheena Hayes tended two statements from a witness and a police officer.

Defence solicitor Dave Ritchie, of ATSI Legal Services, conceded there was a "prima facie" case.

"He makes no statement your honor... (and) enters a guilty plea to the charges," Mr Ritchie said.

Bruton was committed to be sentenced in the next District Court sittings in Mackay.

He's also facing four other charges including two counts of driving while demerit point suspended, being a public nuisance and assault or obstruct police.

One of the charges is related to the armed robbery, the court was told.

The other matters were adjourned to August 15 for mention.
