Man leapt from moving car after police-chase carjacking

POLICE have charged two men following incidents that occurred in Crestmead, Loganholme and Ormeau last night.

It will be alleged that at around 7.50pm, police attempted to intercept a vehicle, however, the vehicle failed to stop and continued to a Loganholme shopping centre.

Police will further allege two men abandoned the vehicle in the car park before entering another vehicle at the location and driving away. Police attempted to intercept, however the vehicle evaded them.

During this time, the 31-year-old driver of the second vehicle jumped from the moving car without injury and informed police he had been bashed, robbed at knife point and forced to drive two men in his car.

Officers used a tyre deflation device to successfully stop the vehicle in Ormeau a short time later.

A 26-year-old Beenleigh man has been charged with deprivation of liberty, dangerous operation of a vehicle, unlawful use of a vehicle and assault occasioning bodily harm.

A 22-year-old Woodridge man has been charged with deprivation of liberty, assault occasioning bodily harm, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and possessing dangerous drugs.

Both men will appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court later today.
