11AM: Fire crews assisted police in the arrest of a man who had climbed onto a roof in the Rockhampton CBD this morning.

The man, believed to be in his mid-20s, allegedly broke into a van at the Commonwealth Bank office on the corner of Bolsover and Denham Streets.

CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Moon said police observed the man and chased him on foot to Quay Lane, where they lost sight of him.

After reviewing CCTV footage, Det Snr Sgt Moon said they ascertained the man had not left the lane and must have climbed onto a roof.

Police called the fire services, who used their truck's ladder to access the roof.

Det Snr Sgt Moon said fire and police officers went onto the roof and located the man above Yummy Noodles.

He said the man appeared to be suffering some sort of illness so an ambulance was called.

The man was transported to the Rockhampton Hospital.

He is still under arrest, but has not been charged yet.
