Man faces rape, sexual assault charges

A 36-YEAR-OLD man facing a range of sex charges appeared in Toowoomba Magistrates Court yesterday.

The man, who cannot be named unless committed to trial, is charged with seven counts of sexual assault and one each of assault with intent to rape, deprivation of liberty and attempted rape.

Police claim the charges arise from five separate incidents between August 21 and September 24.

During the brief mention of the matters before the court, the accused man stood quietly beside his solicitor Claire Graham who asked for an adjournment so the police brief of evidence could be compiled and presented to the defence.

Magistrate Trevor Black remanded the man on bail and adjourned the case for committal mention back in the same court on December 15.
