Man faces 'prickly' situation

A MAN who resisted arrest and was found carrying a knife said he used the weapon to cut poison glands off porcupines, an Ipswich court heard.

Christopher Jason Fraser, 41, faced Ipswich Magistrates Court to plead guilty to eight charges, including obstructing police, creating a public nuisance, possessing a weapon and possessing dangerous drugs.

The court heard Fraser had been drinking in a park on July 30 and started fighting with two women at a Redbank train station.

Police were called to find a heavily-intoxicated Fraser swearing on the platform.

Fraser put up a fight and it took two police officers to subdue him.

At the watch house, police found a knife in Fraser's bag.

Fraser told police he used it to cut the poison glands off porcupines. When police told him Australia didn't have porcupines, he replied: "It's a jungle out there boss."
