Man critical after car flipped on bridge

A MAN is in a serious condition after a single-vehicle traffic crash at Mount Pelion, north of Mackay, late this afternoon.

Preliminary inquiries indicate a Ford Ranger was headed north on Mount Pelion Road at 5.10pm.

"The driver has lost control of the vehicle on the Careys Creek bridge and the vehicle has flipped over coming to rest on the creek bank,” a police media release stated.

A 25-year-old Mirani man was transported to the Mackay Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver and only other occupant, a 20-year-old Mount Ossa man, was also taken to hospital in a serious condition.

Investigations are continuing.
