Man charged with murder after hit and run

A 21-year-old man has been charged with murder after a hit and run that killed a 17-year-old boy in Brisbane's south-eastern suburbs on Saturday night.

The 21-year-old was arrested by police yesterday, and will appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on murder charges today.

A brawl at a party in Station Rd, Woodridge, spilled onto the street about 10.30pm on Saturday, Queensland Police reported.

Police said investigations revealed two groups were fighting and damaging property before a car was allegedly driven into a group of people standing on the footpath.

The 17-year-old, who was hit by the car, suffered serious injuries and later died in hospital.

Police said the car left the scene but was recovered on Sunday morning.

A witness spoke to Sky News at the scene, saying the car was doing "drive-bys" when it was driven into the young man.
