Man caught in rip at NSW beach dies
A man has died after he was swept out to sea while swimming with family and friends on the NSW mid north coast.
Police say the man, believed to be 38, and a female friend in her 20s became caught in a rip at Diamond Beach late on Saturday afternoon.
A male managed to rescue the woman but her companion was pulled unconscious from the water.
Despite attempts to revive him he died at the scene.
