Man to appear in court after crash leaves one dead

A 20-YEAR-OLD Bowen man has been charged following investigations into a fatal traffic crash in Bowen last week.

It will be alleged the man was driving a vehicle on Wednesday, June 15 which lost control and collided with a power pole on Lower Don Road, Woodlands around 10am.

One of the passengers, a 22-year-old man, was airlifted to Townsville Hospital in a critical condition but has since died from his injuries.

The second passenger, a 20-year-old man, was treated at Bowen Hospital for minor injuries.

A 20-year-old man was charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death, failing to remain at or near road incident and assist injured persons, driving a motor vehicle without a licence, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving an uninsured vehicle and offences involving registration certificates.

He is due to appear in the Bowen Magistrates Court today.
