Man accused of Fortitude Valley rape granted bail

A MAN has been allowed bail over the rape of a woman in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley at the weekend.

The 25-year-old, believed to be from the Ipswich region, is accused of holding down a 24-year-old woman, who was known to him, after the pair arranged to meet late Sunday.

He fronted the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday and was granted bail on the condition he not contact the alleged victim, who has been treated in hospital.

The charge will return to court on July 14.
