Demolitions to start at $43 million CBD development

DEMOLITION works are about to start at the site of the major development on Ruthven St.

Bunnings Warehouse has announced it will begin demolition works in coming weeks as it starts work on the $43 million project.

Bunnings general manager of property Andrew Marks said there would be minimal disruption for local residents during the demolition and remediation works.

"These works will take some time and we will update the community on expecting timings for the site when known," he said.

"Bunnings will undertake significant improvements to the local road network and when this does commence we will work with the builder to ensure disruption to local residents is kept to a minimum."

Mr Marks said the development included the retention of existing heritage buildings on the site including the original administration building, cylinder head building and machine shed.

The heritage-listed Railway Hotel and sawtooth sheds will be demolished.
