Open House opens cafe inside Pialba store

IT'S a business that's been around for 30 years and a new cafe in the store is an added bonus for shoppers.

Open House Hervey Bay has long been known as the place to get unique gifts, homewares and kitchenware and a café has just been opened upon customers' request.

Store manager Tara Ross said the decision to open the cafe evolved from listening to customers who really enjoyed shopping there but said it would be nice if they didn't have to go elsewhere for coffee or a light meal.

"We have always had a strong and loyal customer base but the opening of the new café has seen an increase of new customers as word spreads about the quality of our coffee and light meals," she said.

The key to the new café's success lays in the store's ambience and atmosphere, Ms Ross said.

"We offer a range of seating options from couches to tables and chairs and due to the layout you don't get to listen to other people's conversations. It offers a more relaxed time when you have your coffee or meal.

"It really is a place where people can meet and have coffee in very pleasant surrounds."

The cafe opening has not only brought a new and exciting place to have coffee but has given six people new jobs.

"We now employ 12 people within the store and café and we are proud to be able to do that," she said.

As an added bonus customers can phone ahead to order what they want and have it ready by the time they arrive, which saves time for those on a tight schedule.
