A LOCKYER Valley man has been arrested and charged with murder after an alleged road rage incident.

Officers charged the Lockrose man with murder yesterday following extensive investigations into the incident at Petrie Terrace in Brisbane's inner city on Friday.

Police said about 4am there was a verbal altercation between two men who were attempting to cross Milton Rd and the Lockyer Valley man who exited a vehicle travelling on the same road.

Officers said the altercation escalated and as a result a 30-year-old German National suffered stab wounds to his abdomen and back.

The Courier Mail reported the man was believed to be the driver of the car and fled the scene after stabbing the victim.

Two tradies on their way to work stopped to help the bloodied tourist and passing female jogger phoned for help.

Emergency services attended and transported the man to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a critical condition but he died about 11.30am the same day.

The 33-year-old Lockrose man was arrested yesterday morning and charged with one count of murder.

He will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.
