Lockyer riders kick goals in NZ

THE Lockyer Valley has made quite a big impression on the biggest horse show in the Southern Hemisphere, the New Zealand Horse of the Year Show.

Withcott’s Tom Sedger and Helidon’s Gemma Creighton were both members of the victorious Queensland Team.

They won the Trans Tasman Team event against two very strong New Zealand teams.

This is only the second time Queensland has won the event on Kiwi soil.

This event is on borrowed horses and is over three competitions.

Gemma went on to place fourth in a Junior Event.

Clem Smith from Gatton and his horse Dark Ages made the trip over the Tasman as part of the Australian Team for the $50,000 Silver Fern Nations Cup Class.

Australia placed second in the teams but Queensland in particular shone brightly in the class getting the quinella with Clem placing second behind Billy Raymont of Cooroy.
