Lockyer High indigenous students win UQ science challenge

INDIGENOUS students at Lockyer District High School took out the top prize at UQ's Wonder of Science Challenge.

The Wonder of Science was a four-day Indigenous program held at UQ's St Lucia campus from November 26-29 and Lockyer District sent a team of five students to take part.

Teacher aide Chantal Revell said it gave the students the opportunity to explore life as a university student, network with other students and discover what it meant to be a scientist.

"Lockyer came first overall in the challenge which was to build a Rube Goldberg machine to pop a balloon," Ms Revell said.

"On the last day, Broncos players Justin Hodges and Jharal Yow Yeh came in to present the awards."
