Lockyer celebrate art, culture
THE Lockyer Valley Art Gallery's Opening Night for the ‘Debut Exhibition' prepared by the Lockyer Valley Artists Inc. group, attracted a record breaking number of guests since the gallery's inception in the Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre.
Mayor Steve Jones opened the exhibition and complimented the artists on the wonderful variety of paintings on display that were a credit to their abilities in the field of the arts.
He also was pleased to see the relatively new Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre being used to its full capacity for the arts.
Its convenient accessibility provided a venue, where the public can come along during the month long exhibition and have a chance to view and purchase some magnificent works that are on display.
Councillor Dave Neuendorf and Councillor Peter Friend also came along and enjoyed the evening.
Director of the Lockyer Valley Art Gallery, Linda Canning officially welcomed guests to the gallery and complimented the artists on the quality of their works.
Several artworks were purchased on the night.
Some members of the Lockyer Valley Artists Inc. hope to hold demonstrations of several styles of painting over the remaining course of the exhibition on selected Thursdays.
The exhibition will be open throughout the month of August during normal gallery hours for visitors to wander through and enjoy a coffee at the adjoining Staging Post Café /Restaurant overlooking the scenic Lake Apex.
