Drieberg has The X Factor

FROM driving a Bobcat to belting out tunes on national television – Moonee’s Jaie Drieberg is set to star on hit Channel Seven show The X Factor, starting next week.

The talented acoustic solo act has taken a short break from his earthmoving business to pursue his dreams in music.

His shot at stardom came after he got the nod at auditions on the Gold Coast, impressing the judges, including Guy Sebastian, Ronan Keating, Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Mel B.

"What an amazing opportunity it’s been. Until now I’ve put music on the back-burner, but now I want to take it forward," Jaie said.

"It’s pretty humbling as an amateur to line up next to professional musos who have resident gigs in venues I can only dream of playing."

Just as moving as his music has been Jaie’s story.

As a sufferer of carpal tunnel syndrome, severely affecting movement in his wrist, it’s a wonder Jaie can play guitar at all.

"Yeah, I’ve spent more time in hospital than most, had a bone removed from my hand, and the judges didn’t know this but when I played my audition I had two broken ribs from a kayak trip on the Nymboida River."

The X Factor starts on Seven on Monday night and Jaie will play Woolgoolga’s Seaview Tavern next month.
