Live and local night of music to hit Gatton
GATTON’S singer-songwriter Peta Pomerenke is the woman behind Live and Local, Volume 1, a free live music showcase happening this Saturday, May 14, at Gatton Shire Hall.
With a variety of genres to enjoy, including blues/rock, folk, country, pop and even hip-hop, the event features local artists and a special guest from Brisbane MC and hip-hop artist Adan Carter.
Ms Pomerenke said she came up with idea of a showcase as a way to bring more live music into Gatton
“Having grown up in Gatton and frequently returning home as an adult between my travels, I noticed a lack of original live music in Gatton,” she said.
“I wanted to show we don’t just grow veggies here, we grow artists as well.”
Ms Pomerenke said the greater vision for Live and Local was to involve more artists each time and to watch it grow.
“I would like to invite local performers to attend, as we will be taking expressions of interest for the next volume,” Ms Pomerenke said.
“I wanted this to be a free event, available to all members of the community in Gatton and the Lockyer Valley.”
Ms Pomerenke welcomed everyone to come along and enjoy the music.
“I’ll be performing on the night too and we’ve got some very talented performers such as Matt Clarke, Jessica Maree and Jared Wolff booked,” she said.
“I’d like to thank the local community for their support.
“It is also important for me to acknowledge the late Mayor Steve Jones and the Lockyer Valley Regional Council.
“Lockyer Valley Salvation Army are providing a sausage sizzle and doughnut stall by gold coin donation.”
