UPDATE: IT seems all is quiet now in Eau Claire, Wisconsin with a tornado warning no longer in force.
Lismore mayor Jenny Dowell has again confirmed on social media that it is 'all fine' with some lightning still around and traffic lights were flashing.
Considering it is 11.55pm CDT time over there, we wish the mayor a good night sleep.
INITIAL: LISMORE mayor Jenny Dowell has been caught up in a tornado warning that was issued for the town of Eau Claire in Wisconsin.
Cr Dowell had recently travelled to the American town to see and stay at The Lismore Hotel, that has a suite named after her and with The Northern Star used as wallpaper in the rooms.
The National Weather Service issued the warning at 10.14PM CDT local time there (1.14PM our time).
"A Tornado Warning remains in effect until 1045 PM CDT for east central Dunn, northwestern Eau Claire and southwestern Chippewa counties," it stated.
"A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado ... will be near Eau Claire and Altoona around 1045 PM CDT."
Residents have been warned to move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows"
Cr Dowell posted her perspective on her Facebook page.
"Well this is interesting- just received a cyclone warning message to take shelter," she wrote.
"Alarms are ringing outside and traffic lights flashing. People are running to cars."
