Lion bewildered by Adam Goodes boos

AFL: Brisbane midfielder Allen Christensen is bracing for a hostile reception from the Geelong crowd this Saturday - not unlike the one Sydney star Adam Goodes has been experiencing wherever he plays.

But the one-time Cat, who will return to Simonds Stadium for the first time since becoming a Lion at the end of last year, says there will be a big difference. "I know why I'll get booed," he told reporters. "I don't know why he's getting booed."

Christensen described the continuing anti-Goodes sentiment as "distasteful" and "strange". "I don't think it's sinister," he said. "It's a bit like following the crowd - because everyone else is doing it, we'll do it."

After being subjected to excessive booing by the Perth crowd during the Swans' clash with West Coast on Sunday, Goodes has been given a leave of absence, but is expected to play against Adelaide at the SCG on Saturday.

Christensen (pictured), who was born and raised in Lara, just south of Geelong, said he was a "little bit nervous" about returning home.

"I can't wait to get out there and get the first one out of the way," he said.

"I don't think it's going to be too friendly, to be honest ... (but) I was a mad AFL supporter growing up and it's always the same when someone leaves your club.''

Fellow Lion James Aish, meanwhile, may have played his last game for the club.

The out-of-contract youngster, who is being sought by rival clubs, ruptured a tendon in a finger against North Melbourne on Saturday night and will miss the rest of the season.
