Kudos to young stars
From Rugby League to netball, the Lockyer Valley is a rich and vibrant source full of active sporting activities.
As the summer season of sport winds down, kids are already out and about enjoying the sun with the winter season of sport kicking off.
Whether it's an outstanding performance on the field or a string of game winning goals, the achievements of youth across the region deserve to be recognised.
One place which is dedicated to promoting the achievements of local kids in sport is the Gatton, Lockyer and Brisbane Valley Star's Sports Star of the Week section.
Recognising the importance of sport is Cooks Transport who has jumped on board to sponsor the Sports Star of the Week for 2013.
Owner of Cooks Transport and president at the Cahill Park sporting complex in Gatton Jason Cook said sport played an integral part of a healthy life and it was important to recognise special achievements throughout the region.
"It's good for their upbringing to be involved in that environment," Mr Cook said.
"It's good for their health if their doing it, which is a plus for them."
The Star is looking for any sporting achievements of youth under the age of 18 in the region to once again grace the Sports Star of the Week section in 2013.
Each person to go in the Sports Star of the Week section will receive a certificate and go in the running to win an overall Sports Star of the Year trophy later this year.
Send your sport star of the week to sport@ gattonstar.com.au accompanied with 50-100 words about the player and their achievement, plus a photo about 1MB in size.
