King-hit accused on Gold Coast for Mormon camp

A YOUNG man was king hit in the heart of Surfers Paradise by two men visiting the Gold Coast for a church camp, a court has heard.

Onyekachi Okoye, 24, was allegedly attacked by two men as he walked through Cavill Mall about 3.15am on Sunday.

Amanaki Kilisimasi Kaufusi, 21, and Onesi Filimoetaufa Taufui, 18, have each been charged with grievous bodily harm over the random attack.

It is alleged Mr Kaufusi punched Mr Okoye in the face, knocking him to the ground, before stomping on his face and breaking his jaw.

Mr Okoye was taken by ambulance to Gold Coast University Hospital, where he was reportedly placed in an induced coma.
