Katter and Jones to buddy up on investment debate

OUTSPOKEN Queensland MP Bob Katter and controversial radio host Alan Jones will be among six people to debate whether "foreign investment is out of control", during a debate in Sydney next month.

The debate, hosted by The Spectator Australia magazine, will ask: "Have we gone too far in selling off the farm?"

Mr Katter and Mr Jones will be joined by Sydney University academic Frank Stilwell to put the case that foreign investment in Australia has gone too far.

In the opposite corner will be former Treasurer Peter Costello, RMIT academic Steve Kates and free-marketeer, the Institute of Public Affairs' Tim Wilson.

The debate will ask whether the sale of the nation's largest cotton farm and irrigation licence, Cubbie Station, marks history in foreign investment in Australia.

It will be held in the Sydney Masonic Centre on November 14.
