Jill's accused killer released from hospital

THE man accused of raping and murdering Jill Meagher in the Melbourne suburb of Brunswick last month has been released from hospital after treatment for self-inflicted injuries.

Fairfax reported Adrian Ernest Bayley had been returned to prison after undergoing surgery in a Fitzroy hospital.

Bayley is scheduled to face a committal hearing on January 18.
