It’s business as usual for Qantas in Rocky

QANTAS has assured the council it will be "business as usual" for services at the Rockhampton airport.

Cr Neil Fisher yesterday met with representatives from Qantas and the Rockhampton airport while they were in Mackay for a Bowen Basin mining club meeting.

He said the meeting, where they discussed future ventures, was positive and productive.

He also said council had commissioned a specialist to collect data on the airport, which Qantas was encouraged by.

He said the information would be used to see what services could be increased, not cut.

"I'd like to think it gives us the final piece to see increases in services, that's my wish," he said.

"There may always be the opportunity that some of these things may happen before the survey is completed, but once we've got that material it will make it easier to sell that to airlines."
