THE SIXTH SENSE: Gatton psychic medium Val Bradshaw is putting her abilities to the test against the nation’s best in Channel 7’s ‘The One’.

Is Val 'The One'?

VAL Bradshaw's heightened connections with the supernatural has her crossing over onto television sets nationwide as she works to be Australia's one and only.

After a nationwide search involving hundreds of accomplished and aspiring mediums the Gatton resident was chosen as one of 10 psychics to put their skills to the test on Channel 7's reality show The One, with the first episode airing last Wednesday.

Mrs Bradshaw said she was honoured to be classed in the top 10 Australian psychics for the show and looked to challenge and fine tune her abilities against some of the best.

"It's interesting but it's very different for me," she said.

"I'm excited but so overwhelmed at the same time because I have never done anything like this, it's really hard for me because you're trying to tune in and you have camera crews running after you saying 'What are you getting? Tell me what you're feeling?'"

Mrs Bradshaw considered the experience an opportunity to hone her psychic abilities in fresh new ways aside from general readings.

"This is huge for me," she said.

"For me it was testing my abilities and getting out of that comfort zone and testing myself to my extremes to see what you can and can't do, that was probably one of the biggest things."

From a young age Mrs Bradshaw said she always knew she was special but never realised the full potential of her gift until her 20s.

"It's something I discovered 25 years ago but looking back it's something I've realised I've always had as a kid. You just know when things are going to happen, you know when people are going to visit even down to knowing your presents for your birthday."

The Gatton medium said she enjoyed helping people with the show providing an opportunity for her to improve her gifts and reach more people.

"When you have done a reading for someone who happens to be a little lost or who haven't quite got over a family member passing, to help that person move on in life, that feeling you get is amazing. It's wonderful to just help someone.

"Doing this for me will be able to reach a few more people and be able to help them on a one on one level."

Mrs Bradshaw performed well for her debut during The One's first episode last week and will again put her skills to the test tonight on Channel 7 at 7.30pm.
