Inskip sinkhole drama goes almost unnoticed
MANY Rainbow Beach residents did not realise they were the centre of national attention when they woke on Sunday morning.
One resident said she had gone to church on Sunday morning and did not know anything about the sinkhole until she saw reports on television.
The only sign was "there were heaps of caravans (evacuated from Inskip Point) on the Centreblock (a large area of open space adjacent to the town's community and disaster centre)."
"It's in almost exactly the same spot as the last one," she said.
"It is so deep. The water's a deep dark blue, almost bottomless."
